How to get to the Andaman Islands?

Getting to Havelock requires first getting to Port Blair and then taking a ferry.

Visa & RAP

Port Blair, the capital city of the Andamans is connected to Chennai and Kolkata by both air and sea. The most convenient and quickest way to get to the islands is to fly. Indian Airlines, Spice Jet, Indigo Airlines and Airvistara have daily flights into Port Blair from Calcutta (Kolkata) or Chennai (Madras).

Depending on the airlines chosen, the flying time is about 2 hours. Tickets can be purchased online. For current flight schedules, fares and baggage allowances, please visit these sites;

There are several ferries plying between Port Blair and Havelock Island.
Those operated by the local administration will take about 2 hours to get you across. Tickets can only be purchased on spot at actual sailing date.

We however strongly recommend either Makruzz or Green Ocean instead.  This is a more reliable option as tickets can be purchased in advance by us and the total sailing time will be only 90 minutes.

All foreign nationals require a Restricted Area Permit (RAP), above the Indian Visa to enter the Andaman Islands. First, the Indian Visa has to be obtained in your country of residence at the VFS Global Visa Centre or Indian Embassy or Consolate, prior to arrival in India. We recommend to make the authorities aware at the time of application, that you will be visiting the Andaman Islands! The Restricted Area Permit (RAP) is easily obtained on arrival at Port Blair. The procedure takes around 15 minutes, is free of cost and is available to all visitors and not require additional passport photos for doing so.
